ACT, “Atmosphere Controlling Technology”, is a Dutch, innovative company located in Leiden, the bio-science centre of The Netherlands. ACT develops products that enhance shelf life of perishable products, such as cut flowers and fruits.

Shelf life is enhanced by protecting the products against the harmful effects of ethylene gas. It is known that ethylene stimulates the ripening processes in perishable products, causing shorter vase life of cut flowers and reduced shelf life of fruits.

ACT products release gasses to the environment surrounding the food to inhibit these ripening processes. As a result, ACT products make it more beneficial to commercialize perishable products such as cut flowers and fruit.
